MCHS to Host 1st Round of Region 8-AAA Tournament on Tuesday, 2/7

Morgan County High School will host the first round of the boys and girls Region 8-AAA basketball tournaments on Tuesday, February 7th.

Game one will match the Jackson County girls against the Monroe Area girls at 3:00.  The second game will begin at 4:30 and will feature the boys #5 seed, East Jackson, versus #4 seed Hart County.

Host Morgan County, the #3 seed in the girls tournament, will play #6 seed East Jackson at 6:00.  The nightcap will feature the boys #3 seed, Monroe Area, against the #6 seed Jackson County Panthers.

Winners of Tuesday’s games at Morgan County will earn a spot in the region final four to be held at Emmanuel College on Thursday as well as a berth into the state playoffs.

The Morgan County boys, who earned the #1 seed in the region tournament with a perfect record in regular season region play, will take the court on Thursday evening at 8:30 at Emmanuel College.

JV Boys Basketball Wins Region Tournament

The MCHS JV Boys Basketball team closed out the 2016-2017 season in style by winning the 8-AAA junior varsity region tournament championship.

The tournament was held this past Saturday at East Jackson and was the first ever region tournament for the junior varsity level.

The JV Bulldogs picked up their first victory of the day with a narrow 55-49 win in the semifinal versus East Jackson.  Morgan County continued its success in the championship game with a 48-26 win over the Franklin County Lions.

Head Coach Milfred Franklin stated, “I am very proud of the commitment the guys had through the season.  I’m looking forward to watching these young men build on this success and continue the Morgan County basketball tradition.”
