Student-Athlete of the Week: August 7-12

Ed Freeman State Farm Morgan County Student-Athlete-of-the-Week

Week of 8/7-8/12

High School Girls – Bailey Shultz, JR, Volleyball

As the team’s setter, Junior Bailey Shultz plays an important role for the Morgan County High School Volleyball team.  Shultz sets scoring opportunities and must know how high and where to place the ball for different teammates.  According to Head Coach Greg Thompson, Shultz has done an outstanding job of adjusting to the new faces in the team’s 2017 lineup.  Coach Thompson added, “Bailey is the leader on the floor.  She gives 100% effort every day in practice, which translates to game day success.”  Shultz and her teammates will be at home on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

High School Boys – Jamario Pritchett, SR, Football

“Fanatical Effort” is the motto and standard on the defensive side of the ball for the 2017 Morgan County High School football team.  In the Bulldogs’ 21-0 scrimmage victory over Monticello on Friday night, both Head Coach Bill Malone and Defensive Coordinator Brett Bell pointed at the same individual when asked what player upheld the standard.  “Jamario played with relentless hustle,” stated Malone.  Pritchett’s effort paid off.  In just two quarters of action, the senior defensive lineman recorded seven tackles including one for loss.  Malone added, “Jamario is a behind the scenes guy who gives great effort day in and day out. I’m happy to see him have this type of success.”
